- He was the owner of Hearst Communications, the largest newspaper and media company.
- He was famous for his use of Yellow Journalism at his company, which is loosely portrayed in Orson Welles' Citizen Kane.
- He owned The San Fransisco Examiner in 1867 after his father, George Hearst, let him take over.
- He then owned The New York Journal and began practicing his Yellow Journalism.
- His power and wealth then grew exponentially after he started to dominate the paper industry with his corrupt yet effective methods.
- His power and influence from the use of Yellow Journalism directly led the USA to war with Spain in 1898.
- He was also a democratic politician who was elected into the House of Representatives twice for his extreme persuasion and leadership skills.
- Hearst then lost an abundance of money due to the Great Depression in the 1930s.
- Then, WWII began to pick things back up for Hearst and make him much more profitable again.
- He then became very sick and later died from a heart attack and stroke in Beverly Hills, California in 1951.
